Definitively not thirsty. Parts costly, but it never breaks down, so who cares?

Some wheelspin if pushed. 20mph in 5th gear without problems.
Performance
VERY fast (2.0 GTI 143bhp). Faster than a Golf III GTI 16V, but not a Go-Kart.

3 years with more than 100,000 miles and not a single problem.
