Nissan Qashqai (2014 - 2021) 1.6 dCi N-Tec+ 5d Xtronic Owner Review

1.6 dCi N-Tec+ 5d Xtronic

In their own words

Very disappointed with the auto CVT gearbox. Seemed OK on test drive but in everyday life it's very poor. Revs very high and takes a long time to settle into cruising gear. I'm aware this box doesn't actually have gears as such and is a continuously variable unit, but it is not a relaxed box to live with. I find myself having to knock it into 'manual' and force it up to top 'gear'. As a result the mpg is very poor. Across a mix of town and medium journeys it struggles to reach 35mpg. Even on a long run with gentle driving it only returns 38mpg. Not good enough when compared to the competition. In general the ride is smooth and reasonably quiet so it's a good car for long journeys, though rear legroom is limited so a bit of compromise is needed between front and rear passengers. The glass roof makes the interior light and airy, but I wouldn't like to be in the back of one with a solid black roof lining. I need a high seated automatic car due to problems with my left leg & hip, and sort of got pushed into this car. Up to now I've driven automatic estates. I find the boot very small and even with seats dropped it's not spacious. I wouldn't buy another one.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Very disappointed with quality of interior materials. My car is only 18 months old but door armrests and seats look 5 years old. I work in an office job so travel in good clean clothes yet the material is looking very tired already. Boot carpet also looking tired even though I keep it covered with a piece of matting.
