Cheap as chips and great value.

11 miles per litre and cheap spares everywhere!

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Great handling, firm ride.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Ok so its a diesel, but like for like better than my brother's later model Ford TD Mondeo.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

The usual bits aside, such as cambelt and driveshafts, it was pretty good.

    Image

Call me crazy, but I reckon that 405s have real good looks thanks to Pininfarina.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pretty cosy all round, never got backache in the seats with the lumbar supports.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

I had to fit an alarm.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

After-sales are useless, unhelpful and smug. I had to write to the UK MD of Peugeot to get any help on problems that the dealer really should have resolved.
