Great car which I have always wanted and love to bits - I would have given it five stars throughout, and in fairness for a 17 year old car the running costs have been very reasonable. The drive is as you would expect, fuel economy if you drive gently on a long run is 34mpg(ish), normally about 24mpg, and with enthusiastic driving around 16-18mpg. However the 996 suffers with IMS failure - mine was done when I bought it. They also suffer from bore score or in my case a D-Chunk out of a cylinder. This is a £12,000 repair. if you can get one where the engine has been rebuilt then that would be a much better buy.
