What does this car say about you?

This man obviously knows nothing about cars and the horrible metallic green shows his wfde has chosen it for him.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Is it a van? Is it a car?

Would you buy this car again and why?

What , a 1.4? No never, I'd rather walk. I love Scenics for all crap design faults like engine out for headlight change (only joking) - this is my 4th, but the 1.4 with its terrible upholstery and lack of power is a step too far downwards.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Possibly Scenic grande, diesel.

    September 2010

    Low milage so ok.

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

A lot better than the Mk 1 and 2 - ride is a lot smoother. Performance? What's that? This is not a car for going up hills or overtaking. Unfortunately the 1.4 petrol unlike teh 1.4 diesel has simply no guts at all and quite often stalls if the revs dip too low when pulling away. I don't mind great performance with poor fuel economy or great fuel economy with poor performance, but rubbish performance with rubbish economy is taking the micky. Stick to the 1.6.

    What's it like to park?

Three scrapes on nearside back bumper. Enough said.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Gearbox blew up but luckily under warantee from dealer A/c fan stopped working - common problem, on several Renaults. Sheer madness why they let this continue on Mk1, 2 and 3 scenics! Luckily easily fixed by removing instrument panel and reaching in to replace parts from ebay - simples. No need to get Renault to remove dash at £400!

What's most practical about your car?

Seats come out dead easy - converts to van for daytime use and back to school run in mornings.. The trim is however the most dreadful I've ever seen , everything about it screams YOU ARE DRIVING THE BOTTOM OF THE RANGE. Don't get the seats damp or wet it will look like someones wee'd on them, They show up every single mark.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Digital dash ! Brilliant! You can always see EXACTLY how fast you're going, no need to guess or squint. Makes every other instrument panel look very '60s. Makes me feel like I am actually driving a modern 21st centrury car rather than some old 70s banger.
