Rover 200 Coupe 220 Turbo 2d (1994/L) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Needs a stainless steel exhaust as it gets very hot. The brakes need upgrading, handling needs extra work and security has to be upgraded. These cars are pretty pants standard and need money spending to improve Rover's supposed finished product.
Costs
Yeah yeah the fuel. Insurance aint too bad.

On the road
Driving
Not too bad. Just need to show respect as designers didn't get it right.
Performance
What to say? 200bhp on this one but when I get my new one it'll have 225bhp (standard for Japan) that's got to be sub 6s.

Living with it
Reliability
None (touch wood) apart from the battery going on the key fob that deactivates the standard immobiliser. Luckily the shops were still open and I could buy one or I wouldn't have been going anywhere.
Image
Jeremy Clarkson rates this as his 14th worst car EVER! Looks better with the spoiler and 3rd brake light on the back.
Comfort
Pretty good I suppose, but could be better.

Security and Service
Security
Hmm well not the best! Upgrade!
Service
The usual main dealers are expensive.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
The oil leak is again down to bad engineering, the brains at Rover drilled too close to the edge allowing oil to leak out. Change the oil every 6000 miles.
Other
ABS stopped working towards the end of ownership; didn't bother getting it fixed but wish I had once luckly there was nothing comming or crash!
