Rover 800 Fastback 820 Si 5d (1996/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
'96 Version gets more toys. Passenger SRS and leather effect trim to doors, add class.
Costs
Some parts are dear, but minimal due to reliability. Standard servicing can be carried out quite cheaply.

On the road
Driving
1996 Upgrading of suspension works wonders. Still understeers when pushed, but can be fun.
Performance
Great mid range torque. Superb motorway muncher - great fun when pushed!

Living with it
Reliability
Watch out for cylinder head leaks!!! First time starter, all of the time. I've now had 7 800's, and not one has broken down, even with 160,000 miles!
Image
Understated, very British image - 800 with spoiler and alloys can look evocative. I Love 'em!
Comfort
I'm not the shortest of drivers- 800 gives superb space and upgraded interior provides excellent comfort.

Security and Service

Deadlocks and immobiliser upgrades are impressive.
