Skoda Octavia Hatchback (2013 - 2020) SE L 1.5 TSI 150PS ACT 5d Owner Review

This is the third Octavia I’ve had, having had a mk1, a mk2 and now the mk3. The step up from the mk2 to this is much greater than mk1 to mk2.

Bought second hand and done close on 20000 miles in the year I’ve had it, and had no complaints.

Excellent fuel economy, regularly seeing high 40’s and into the 50’s mpg without even trying.

Not experienced the juddering at low speeds reported by others with this engine, but notice it needs to be changed down a gear earlier than my older Octavias did.

Nice level of equipment, everything you would expect from a car of this spec - cruise control, dual zone A/C, Apple CarPlay, and some nice touches such as the Velcro attached parcel holders in the boot, and the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap.

Looks great in metallic red, and always a pleasure to drive.

The only criticisms I can find are the reverse lights aren’t great if reversing where there is no ambient light, and had a slight problem when I had the cam belt changed, as the Skoda dealer got it stuck in diagnostic mode and what should have been a 1 day service turned into a three day service, and then having to find me an alternative car.
