Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £12,000

When did you buy the car?

    October 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

At the time I wanted to buy, I was told there was a 6 month waiting list, which I wasn't very happy with. I got a call a day later and the dealer offered to sell me their Yeti demo. It was in very good condition, only 6 months old and we got it for £2,000 less than a new one.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a replacement for my ailing Renault Scenic and wanted something safe to transport my children in.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer who sold me the Yeti was the first dealer I've ever met who didn't sell it... he let the car sell itself. He sat in the back on my test drive and answered my questions very well but didn't offer any kind of sales pitch, which was nice. The showroom was very well presented and the salesman did every thing he could to help, including giving me a free Skoda-branded picnic basket.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

The car is only a 1.2-litre but the acceleration is very good. It feels more like a 1.6 or a 1.8. It handles very nicely but you need to very careful cornering at higher speeds, such as on country roads as the back end can get a bit twitchy. This could be remedied with a lower centre of gravity.

    What's it like to park?

It is very easy to park. It has very good handling, it's very manoeuvrable and visibility is good.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

A couple of times the vehicle engine management light has come on and the engine has gone into safe mode. I am not too worried about it though because I can remedy it by turning the engine off and on again and the car's been fine for a while. All computers have glitches once every so often.

What's most practical about your car?

High seating position for good visibility and the rear passenger seats are also high so it's easy to get my kids in and out of it.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Having a sixth gear to improve fuel consumption and keep the revs lower at high speeds.
