SsangYong Turismo (2013 - 2019) 2.2 SE 5d Owner Review

2.2 SE 5d
Ssangyong Turismo 2016

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

The 2.2 SE model with manual 6 gears is only £165 to tax. Driven carefully and with consideration you can expect good economy of mpg in comparison to the size of the vehicle. A couple of gadgets to aid driving is advisable, sat nav, GPS speedometer etc. They are not expensive and brings the car in line with higher spec models for a lot less money. So I haven't five starred this car but I did make a five star decision in buying it.

How reliable do you find the car?

Speedometer in the centre of dash seems misplaced. I bought a small GPS speedometer to place right in front of me behind the steering wheel. It's reliable and accurate. I also have a small satnav permanently on for speed camera warnings. I also have a Garmin dash cam for extra warnings you could only get in the ELX model, like lane departure and collision warning.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

I don't have a fuel mpg computer but from the amount of fuel I put in until I refuse again, I estimate 40 mpg mixed driving. I'm happy at that; especially with the extra seating on offer and the load carrying potential. With rear five seats removed I can get a four seater settee in the back and close the tail gate. The floor space loading length available is approximately 7 foot 7 inches 7'7". I was amazed at how the rear seats convert to beds. The rear bench seat actually reclines flat. The radio, once adjusted for sound, is simply brilliant. No alloy wheels, why bother, No tinted windows, I didn't want them. No heated seats, I've never had them. No leather seats, they're cold anyway in winter. The cloth seats feel warm within seconds just by being sat on them. This car is a super buy and prices are more attractive now that they have been discontinued. That means if you want one for moving furniture, car boot sales, running seven people from a to b, then wise up and get one. I'll be using mine for at least one year before selling it. I won't have to hire a van or overuse taxis because of lack of extra seats. I will get all my jobs around the house done in that year, so in economical terms this is a sensible car to own for the reasons I have mentioned. I paid £12500 for mine with only 12500 miles use. I'll use it for 12 months, probably for 10,000 miles and then sell it on. I was lucky. Mine had 1 owner from new and a full manufacturers service history by Ssangyong. I will continue that history with its next fifth year service. In that way I bet I get a really good resale value.
