Toyota Camry Saloon 1991-

Whole lotta car for the money. Put a BMW or Audi badge on it and add 10 grand - is any badge worth that?

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Insurance through Direct Line is reasonable. Parts not cheap, but general serving from main dealer still very fair. A town car it ain't at 16mpg. A motorway car it is at 26mpg.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Want rear wheel drive? Buy a BMW. I don't have an issue with large cars being front wheel drive. Cruises with ease.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Many a XR3s left looking silly. Many a BMW 5-series left looking shocked. The car is capable of its 134mph top speed. Need I say more?

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Had mine 6 years now. Apart from regular servicing and tyres, only had two repairs: constant velocity joint gator and rear suspension bush - total work less than £200 in 6 years!

Mine's been fitted with 17" OZ wheels, wider and lower tyres - now whether people are laughing or admiring I don't know, but more people look at my car than a 'two a penny' BMW.

    Comfort

    1 out of 5 1.0

Smooth, very quiet and luxurious - leather, climate control and lumbar support makes the longest of journeys enjoyable.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Poor alarm system. Relies on horn for the alert. No remote central locking and no internal movement sensors.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Dealership I purchased from are perfect. Other main dealers still trying to live up to the reputation of my first Toyota dealer.
