Value
Costs very little to run. Reliable and relatively comfortable. Worth buying.

Great on petrol. Parts relatively cheap. Has not yet developed any major faults… touch wood!

On the road
Driving
Prone to understeering at surprisingly low speeds, particularly on wet roundabouts. If driving a saloon model enthusiastically, expect to see your own brake-lights when taking corners.
Performance
82HP. Excellent in 1st and 2nd gear, but 3rd lacks the 'oomph' of other cars. Fit an induction kit and you'll easily be able to do 120-125mph and get from 0-60 in 10s. I well recommend it! :-)

Living with it
Reliability
Even after 10+ years and 105,000 enthusiastically driven miles, this car has had no expensive faults. Just the usual consumables e.g. plugs, oil filter etc. No break-downs yet!

Ok, it looks like mummy dearest's runabout, but put an induction kit in and it's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Ideal when at the traffic lights! Looks VERY good when lowered, but without a sad body kit.
Comfort
It might not be the best ride in the world, but for its age and price it's excellent. Seats support well and suspension not too firm or soft.

It's an old car now, so it's not going to be very difficult to break into, but it is comparable or even good compared to similar aged cars. Invest in a crook-lock if you are that worried.

Tappits a bit noisy after 105k miles, but not serious. 10w/40 GTX-Magnatec (oil) quiets them down.
