Paid just under £5K for second hand model, in '97, just got rid for £200! Mind you, galactic miles on it.
Costs
The most expensive thing I have had done was the head gasket, which blew. I knew it was going, but didn't get it changed in time! Other than that the overall running costs were next to nothing. Best value motor I have ever bought.

The drive has always been comfortable, even on those long journies.
Performance
It's an under powered 1.8 8valve engine, need I say more? It will never be a tarmac muncher.
