Other Vauxhall Vectra (2005 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    2 out of 5 2.0

What does this car say about you?

Boring, unimaginative sales rep or unmarked Police Car driver.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It's a car. It has four wheels and a big boot.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, definately not. Up to 60k this car was average, beyond that my confidence fell, right up until 100k where it became slow, hot and the autobox unpredictable.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Company Car - Audi A4.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,995

When did you buy the car?

    April 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Was offered a very good px deal and discount on newer Vectra as I had previously experienced issues with previous car from the same dealer.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Offered a good px deal on a previous Vectra that had begun to experience problems with (steering rack).

    What was the dealer like?

Arnold Clark in Leyland are still woeful - I took them for what they are, awful at service. I just wanted to get rid of my previous vehicle from them that was seeing a number of faults.

  • Driving it

    2 out of 5 2.0

    What's it like to drive?

The automatic greabox is simply shocking in 1st gear with major turbo lag. Can take 2-3s for the car to respond to 100% throttle in 1st. Handling is good in the dry, and puts up with a lot of stick. In the wet I actually found mine to be tail happy, which is odd from front wheel drive vehicle. Good in the snow with a winter gearbox setting.

    What's it like to park?

Simple. Visibility is good all round.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    - Airconditioning pump at 61k miles ( althought 1k outside warranty Vauxhall contributed to repair) - Consistent bad feathering of rear tyres (badly worn in under 10k) - Broken electric functions on steering wheel (warranty repair) - Poor panel alignment to front bumper (not accident induced) - Freeplay in steering (warranty repair) - Failed water pump at 100k.

What's most practical about your car?

Although (very) basic you get a big car for your money. Great for lugging family around and regularly gave me 50mpg combined.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

None - it got me from A to B.
