I don't have much money but I like a car that's put together properly.

Consensus is that it's a good looking little car that is likely to last me a good few years yet.

Yes. I love the look and the build quality.

Did you get a good deal and why?

I bought it from my brother. He had it serviced by a VW dealer before he sold it to me, which is good because I wouldn't want to pay VW dealer prices. On that basis I think it was a fair price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It used to belong to my brother.

What's it like to drive?

VW build quality means that although it's nearly 12 years old it's still pretty tight, and I find it a pleasure to drive. The 1.6 has enough power to have a little bit of fun now and then, but if you just want to get from A to B this car will do it smoothly and comfortably. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a car of this sort of age, and should I do anything silly to it (it won't break down), I think I'll probably buy another.

What's it like to park?

Easy. Power steering plus excellent all round visibility.

Have you had any problems with the car?

The driver's door lock has broken, which I believe is a fairly common fault with Golfs of this age, but other than that it's behaved extremely well for two years.

What's most practical about your car?

Large boot, plus enough grunt to keep moving when the boot's full.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

It's pretty basic - manual windows, mirrors, seats etc. As such there aren't really any gadgets!
