Practical, slightly staid, head rules heart. (otherwise i would have bought an alfa romeo).
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Generally very well liked. my aged mother loves driving in it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
NO. GEARBOX IS A KNOWN FAULT ON THE 122 PS TSI GOLFS. I WILL BUY VOLKSWAGON AGAIN, PROBABLY THE SCIRROCO, OR GOLF GTI. OUR NEED FOR A FIVE DOOR IS NO LONGER AN IMPERATIVE.

SCIRROCO, ALFA GUILIETTA, GOLF GTI, OR 2.2 MAZDA 3 SALLON.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Fairly good, Although the car did prove problematical after purchase. The price offered for my part exchange was fair, but Golf was light on driving aids.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
We wanted a compact and practical family car, with quiet comfort , and a good performance for effortless driving , with a good auto box. Reviews suggested the Golf TSI.

What's it like to drive?
Excellent, punchy engine, fast in sport mode, effortless on motorway.good roadholding, little body roll. quiet and very comfortable for its class.
What's it like to park?
EASY.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes. the dsg gearbox became very notchy, and started to bang when changing gear, moving off, and hill starts. otherwise perfect.
What's most practical about your car?
Roomy, good boot, plenty of cupholfers, fairly good door pockets.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Armrest, bought as aftermarket accessory.
