Cheap to buy/run/insure.
Costs
Low running cost. Advoid VW dealers. Best to go to a large German supplier for parts.

Driving
Good around town and can happily cruise at 70 on motorways. Need to leave a big gap between you and the car in front due to the dodgy brakes (due to lack of servo).
Performance
Not fast but nippy for a 1.3. Light weight helps.

No real problems that I couldn't fix with a Haynes manual in 13,000 miles.
