In their own words

Does what is meant to do without fuss. I like the car, but I do not love it - a bit characterless. Comfortable, quiet and various modes (Eco, Normal, Sport) allow for different driving styles on different roads. Plenty of space inside, but the boot is smaller than I thought it would be (maybe my fault, as the salesman did not point out that the showroom car boot was in the low position and had the back row of seats right forward). I like the "tech" - infotainment, SD card for music , satnav etc, and I love the adaptive cruise control; I would never buy another car without ACC. However, city braking and pedestrian avoidance/braking has never worked - even if the dealer swears they can find no fault. Very disappointed with need for new brake discs all round at less than three years old - appalling quality discs fitted by VW. Also. DPF sensor failed after only 40k miles - quoted over £300 by VW dealer to replace - I did it myself for less than £50. Tyre wear poor - I only got about 40k miles out of a set of tyres. Last car I had gave me over 70k miles on the front and over 100k on the back (VW Passat). Local VW dealer pretty poor - expensive, full of smiles, free coffee and comfortable seats, but the workshop was pretty lax and the receptionists seem to know very little about cars. Stopped using them when the three year warranty expired. Overall, a satisfactory car, but not a memorable one yet.
