In their own words

What an amazing little run-around! Bought as a used-approved through VW's excellent Das Welt Auto programme, I've been kind of wondering how I've ever lived without one! The build quality is just superb - kind of what you'd expect from the VAG. The Up is now over 10 years old but you'd never know. It was purchased as a cheap run-around and it's just that: £20 per year to tax and usually does at least 50 mpg whilst pootling around. It's not a rocket ship, but being the 75PS version, it does accelerate very well from standstill to 30/40 mph. Being tall, I find the front cabin space more than adequate. I took my sweet time looking for the car and did try the Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii too. All three seemed very much the same, but I just preferred the look of the Up (love the rear glass hatchback).

How reliable do you find the car?

Over the winter of 2022, the car was damp inside. It was obvious that there was water ingress somewhere. A trawl of the internet forums out there diagnosed this as water leaking around the high-level brake light. I followed the steps which others had recommended: pop the light out, use a silicon-based sealer to create a good seal and re-fit. It all worked a treat and the car is now dry inside!

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

It's a High Up, so comes with the Garmin SatNav / fuel computer, front electric windows / electric door mirrors and heated front seats! The seats get warm VERY quickly though...
