Yes, very definitely. It lives up to its moderate luxury tag in every way, and is a joy to drive.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Although we paid full list price, we did get some extras thrown in, such as GAP insurance and 3 years' free servicing.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
We wanted a smaller car than our previous (S-Type Jaguar), but with same feel of luxury and ease of driving.
What was the dealer like?
Helpful, aware that we were knowledgeable buyers who knew what we were looking for, and what the V40 offered.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Brilliant engine, cannot believe it is just 1.6 litre as it pulls and revs so well, linked to a marvellous auto. box which I have never yet managed to outwit; very smooth change up or down. Steering light and precise, goes just where you put it. Seats extremely comfortable (its a Volvo!), all makes for ease of driving either on motorway, rural roads or in town. Instruments very clear, particularly the digital speedometer (We opted for the basic setup, not the pretty coloured gizmos).
What's it like to park?
Rear parking sensors (including screen showing individual sectors around rear) work well. Visibility average both at front and rear, turning circle similar.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
After a month there was a fault with the horn/alarm system, which needed a new horn fitting - had to leave it with the dealer for two half days (one for diagnosis, one for correcting fault).
What's most practical about your car?
So easy to drive!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The "Blonde" leather option, which makes the interior so light.
