As standard the car is well-equipped with safety features such as a full range of airbags and a large number of systems that are designed to help prevent an accident in the first place. BMW X6 safety features include stability control, brake pre-tensioning and traction control. A further option includes BMW Assist which includes a manual and automatic SOS call in case of an accident.

The car hasn’t been tested by Euro NCAP to asses its crash protection but it would score well.

As you would expect of a car this size, practicality is good. It’s fitted with run flat tyres which means there is no need to carry a spare – as a result there is useful storage under the boot floor which is ideal for stashing muddy boots. The luggage area itself is a good size although the sloping roof line means certain awkward loads might be a struggle to fit in.

The rear seats fold down to increase carrying capacity and there are storage areas dotted throughout the car including door bins, cup holders in the front and rear, and a storage tray between the rear passenger seats.
