BYD Dolphin Surf verdict
2025 onwards
(change model)

What we like
BYD’s smallest car is rather big on the inside, offering better legroom for adults than cars like the Renault 4 E-Tech. The amount of standard equipment is impressive, too, with even the entry-level specification coming with all the equipment you really need. It’s also a solid-feeling car, with an excellent fit and finish for the money.
What we don’t like
The infotainment won’t be the easiest to navigate, with lots of deep and detailed menus and plenty to customise. While the Dolphin Surf feels solid to drive, a Hyundai Inster feels more fun in this category. We also think the brakes could be stronger, too.
