Cleaning a car carpet with a brush
Cleaning a car carpet with a brush

A car’s interior is often plastered in fabric and upholstery all designed to offer you some creature comfort. These fabrics will be hard-wearing but aren’t immune to staining or bad odours.

From time to time you’ll need to give your car’s fabrics a good scrub and upholstery cleaner alone won’t be enough, the mechanical cleaning power of a carpet brush will be required to get the best results.

These brushes need to be resistant to the slightly harsher cleaning chemicals you’ll come across when cleaning a car’s interior. They also need to be affordable and ergonomic to deliver the best results. We’ve found the best examples right here.

For our money, nothing comes close to this brush for scrubbing fabrics from Vikan. An incredibly durable hand brush, this brush makes use of short tough bristles for scrubbing and can withstand most domestic cleaning chemicals. It’s also a very affordable option which makes it all the more impressive. Not bad for a brush that was primarily designed to deal with grubby nails.

Pros:
• Affordable
• Robust design

Cons:
• No included handle

The Dustpan and Brush Store 2-In-1 Rubber Hand Brush

Price: £4.79 | VIEW OFFER

This hand brush makes use of rubber bristles which aren’t the best for deep scrubbing but are excellent for lifting embedded hair, the bane of any pet owner. Pull this over a seat and it’ll pull any hairs straight to the surface for easy vacuuming. Best of all, the rubber is sacrificial meaning if you apply too much pressure the bristles will break down before the fabric will, ensuring you don’t accidentally damage your interior.

Pros:
• Affordable
• Excellent for pet hair

Cons:
• Not great for scrubbing
