The interior is a big step forward for the Koreans, but it lags behind the standards set by the Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo. Even against its chief rival – the Hyundai Getz – it looks plasticky and rather cheap (there are far too many blanking switches, for instance). The controls are simply laid out, there are some attractive instruments and the driving position is comfortable for about-town trips.

Good all-round visibility and plenty of light inside. The gearchange is rather lifeless, but the steering light enough for easy parking. Height adjustable seat on SE upwards.

Seats aren’t up to all-day driving, but are fine for popping to the shops. Air con and a spacious interior make for pleasant trips. Adequate legroom for rear passengers. Noise from the engine is the biggest concern – it’s a bit noisy when it’s being pushed, but it never gets unbearable.
