What is miles per pound?

Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 44 - 46 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Service intervals are 10,000 miles which seems short, but most do a low annual mileage and servicing is free for three years. Cheap to insure, 45mpg, reasonable re-sale values.

Matiz is an environmentally friendly model. With an average of 156 g/km CO2 across the model line-up, its emissions are relatively low for a mini hatchback. It’s worth noting that the line-up does not feature any diesel models, which typically produce less carbon dioxide than petrol engines with similar power outputs. The range is impressively frugal, averaging 45 mpg.

Build quality not brilliant, but the underlying mechanicals are proving to be tough. Three years free servicing means most are well-maintained, three year warranty takes care of the niggles.
