With Renault stealing all the family car sales with its innovative Scenic, followed closely by the Citroen Xsara Picasso or even Nissan with its Almera Tino, it wasn’t long before the Ford wanted in on the act with its Focus C-Max. And so, in 2003, the Ford Focus C-Max arrived in the UK, using the same platform as the forthcoming 2005 Ford Focus with added space and practicality to appeal to families.
Only available with five seats, rather than seven, it actually offered little in the way of extra flexibility – the rear seats didn’t fold into the floor or contort cleverly out of the way, though the outer pair could slide diagonally for more shoulder space.
