The Jeep Patriot is the American manufacturer’s attempt at a crossover SUV and it sold on these shores between 2007 and 2011.
It was billed as a softer Jeep, a car maker with a reputation for building go-anywhere four wheel drive cars.
Designed for those who wanted the extra ability of a 4x4 but didn’t have the need for a large, purpose built off-roader, it also offered the rugged looks that because synonymous with the brand. It’s a different offering compared to the more street-focused Nissan Qashqai, Honda CR-V and Skoda Yeti.
There were only two engine options, a 2.4-litre petrol with 168bhp that needs to be worked quite hard and a 2.0-litre diesel engine from Volkswagen that provided better in-gear acceleration and could sprint from 0-62mph in 11 seconds.
