Should you buy one?

The LM is a car for the rear occupants, perhaps more than any other vehicle on sale. It fulfils that brief incredibly well, with a level of luxury that’s hard to find outside of hyper-expensive, fully customised vans and limousines.

The traditional luxury car template works well for many people, and we don’t think scores of people will trade in their S-Class or 7 Series for an LM. And people who like to drive themselves are even more unlikely to want to leave their Range Rovers.

The LM won’t be seen dropping off leagues of schoolchildren at the gates, nor are you likely to find it pulling up as your Uber. But for those who want to be driven, and don’t care that the vehicle they’re being driven in isn’t especially fashionable, we don’t think there’s anything better out there right now.

What we like

The comfort on offer here is unparalleled, and Lexus’ trademark quality and attention to detail is evident throughout.

What we don’t like

Some of the tech is a little outdated already – anybody heard of Miracast? We’d like a blind for the rear window, too.
