The Mercedes M Class has been around since 1997 and there have been three generations of the mid-sized luxury SUV in that time.
Badged ML followed by a three-digit engine code, the M-Class was available from launch with five seats and the option to extend this to seven with a third row.
Boasting a new Mercedes Four Wheel Electronic Traction System from launch, the M-Class has always been strong off-road, and has had to be in order to compete with luxury SUV products from Land Rover and BMW.
The second generation came in 2005 and offered a more stylish look inside and out. The trademark strong D-pillar was retained, as was the extensive engine range. Topping the bill was the AMG version which was powered by a 510bhp, 6.3-litre petrol engine.
