The Viano was awarded four stars out of five for adult safety by Euro NCAP along with three stars for child safety. Standard safety equipment includes twin front airbags, side airbags (standard on Ambiente but optional on Trend), ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability programme (ESP) and remote central locking.
The standard Viano comes with six-seats but it can be fitted with an extra seat or two as an optional extra. There are numerous different ways in which the seating can be configured including individual seats, two and three-person bench seats and a face-to-face configuration. The individual seats can be folded down and turned into a table while if you have bench seats fitted, the left hand seat on the second row tilts forward to make getting out easier.
The seats all move on sliding guide rails and it is possible to remove them all if you want to create a van-like load area. However they aren't light or easy to store. There is, however, plenty of stowage with a lidded cubby on top of the dash, an 11-litre glovebox and large door pockets which can hold a 1.5-litre drinks bottle.

Euro NCAP provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe. The safety ratings are determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP. These tests represent, in a simplified way, important real life accident scenarios that could result in injured or killed car occupants or other road users.
