The Mitsubishi Colt has been in production for a sustained period first starting out in 1962. It is a compact hatchback and it was the launch of the 2003 version that gave the Colt the biggest presence in the UK.
It was a shared development with the German Smart company (a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz), which built the ForFour version. This was a funkier interpretation than the Colt with a much more distinctive design both on the outside and inside, though the Mitsubishi provided more kit as standard and at a keener price.
Despite this the Colt struggled to steal sales away from the mainstream sellers and it was eventually replaced with the all-new Mitsubishi Mirage in 2013.
