Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 28 - 43 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The Grandis offers reasonable running costs, although the petrol version is thirsty and expensive to tax. Insurance is quite high too at group 13 for entry-level models, up to 15 for Warrior versions. However, Mitsubishi servicing is reasonably priced and dealers offer a good value servicing deal if you’re buying new.

The Grandis performs fairly badly on the eco front, due mainly to the uneconomical 2.4-litre petrol engine. The 2.0-litre DI-D is better – it emits 176g/km of CO2 and averages 43mpg.

Mitsubishis have a well-earned reputation for mechanical reliability and there is no reason to expect the Grandis will be any different. Overall quality is good, with decent materials used inside and a solid feel to the construction. There was a recall in 2007 but it only affected 90 cars.
