Lancer has not been crash tested by Euro NCAP, so there are no safety ratings to report. However, it does have front and side airbags and ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution. There’s also full three-point seatbelts throughout – including the rear central seat, which is often just a lap belt and not as protective – and Lancer is fitted with front and side airbags, child-proof rear door locks, ISOFIX child anchor points and ABS as standard.
All models are secured with an immobiliser and keyless entry.
Boot space is sufficient, swallowing up to 430 litres – easily enough for the weekly shop – and the low load lip helps when packing heavy goods. There are various storage boxes in the cabin, including a large glovebox, armrest bin and cupholders, but nothing that stands out from other cars in this class. All models get 60/40 split folding rear seats, which are great for extending luggage capacity or storing longer items, but do not fold completely flat.
Parking is hampered by the obstructive spoiler.
