Peugeot 407 Saloon (04-11) - rated 3.5 out of 5

The Peugeot 407 was the French firms attempt to muscle in on the mainstream family and fleet cars, traditional dominated by the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia.

The first thing you notice about the 407 is its looks. It is perhaps not the most handsome of cars but the design is distinctive not least the flat looking front end with inward looking headlights.

Unlike its mainstream rivals Peugeot offered the 407 in a saloon body style not a traditional hatchback body. The car was first launched in 2004 and its key selling points were roomy for adult passengers particularly in the back and strong, frugal diesel engines.

There was a mild make over in 2008 that saw some minor changes to the front end and rear bumper along with the trim levels being updated and a new variant introduced in the shape of the SR model. The model was finally discontinued in 2011.
