Rover 45 Saloon (04-05) - rated 2.5 out of 5

Available as both a saloon and hatchback the Rover 45 was introduced in 2000 and continued un-changed until 2004 when a mild facelift with revised lights, bumpers and interior tweaks was introduced.

The model lasted until the demise of Rover in 2005, but in truth its lineage goes far further back than the turn of the millennium, being closely related to the mid-nineties Rover 400 and associated Honda models it shared a chassis with.

That meant that while the 400 was originally a large family car aimed at the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia class, the 45 had failed to grow with the segment and is better regarded as a small family car instead. At least both had decent sized boots, with 370 litres available for the hatch and a generous 470 litres on offer for the saloon.
