Rover 45 Saloon engines, drive and performance
2000 - 2004
(change model)
Revised K-Series engines power the 45; 1.6i is lively but rather unrefined; 1.8i is sporty and willing; 2.0 V6 is ultra-refined and potent; turbo-diesel are good for the class and feel livelier than most rivals. All engines are smooth for cruising.
Uprated from the old 400 but still a bit harsh at low speed. Otherwise very good. Plush for a medium sized car, but confident in corners, if not exactly thrilling.
