Suzuki Grand Vitara: music

Audio upgrade

Although this Grand Vitara SZ5 is well equipped, Suzuki keeps the equipment list simple.

It comes with an in-dash six-CD autochanger as standard, but if customers have an MP3 player, it's left up to them to choose from Suzuki's accessory list to fit the system that meets their needs.

I visited our local dealer, Stoneacre, in Peterborough, to have the rather grandly titled iPod interface fitted.

It was a job the dealer hadn't done before so wasn't sure how long it would take, but it seemed like a relatively simple job. I was offered a lift into work and a lift back to Stoneacre when the accessory was fitted.

The iPod interface is actually an iPod connector lead fitted in the glove compartment. However, it is a fully integrated system, and when connected, it displays song or album titles on the audio screen and allows tracks to be skipped using the controls on the dashboard or the steering wheel.

It was fitted the same morning at a cost of £179 for the system and £50 for labour.
