Toyota Avensis Tourer boot space, practicality and safety

One of the safest cars on the road (it was the safest for a short while) with a five-star Euro NCAP rating; ABS, loads of airbags (including ‘kneebags’); ticks all safety boxes. Alarm/immobiliser, double locking, etched glass and marked parts for security.
Huge rear load area. Fold the seats down and there’s plenty of space for bulky boxes of flat-pack furniture, although total boot volume falls short of estates like the Vauxhall Vectra and Ford Mondeo. Plenty of storage spaces in the cabin.
