Value
By used! Be smart and buy a well respected one ( two or three years old ). You cannot to my knowledge, buy such a fine machine for such a low price anywhere in this orbit.
Costs
Averaging 30mpg is pretty decent for this exec. Still, on a long journey, cruising around 70ish, It often returns around 39mpg.

On the road
Driving
A fabulous car to drive. The handling is exceptional for a big bruiser of a car. It also feels extremely able and nimble. Alfa drivers experience a thrill that is lack in most other marques.
Performance
This is the most technically advanced version of the twin spark engines to date. Size considered, the performance is exceptional. The engine pulls like train and sounds like a pocket opera.

Living with it
Reliability
I have had eight Alfas. Never have I broke down...HONEST ! . You may get an occasional niggle like with any other car. The 166 though is screwed together pretty well. Just watch tyres, variator and change belts & tensioners sooner rather than later

If you read this, don,t buy a 166. I like the fact that my 166 is the only one locally. Still, if you are a truly,madly,deeply in love with Alfa's, you will stand out as an exciting individual. Cuore Sportivo !

Black leather momo all round. The seats are electrically operated and heated. There are acres in the front and decent room in the back for three adults.

Security
Lack of dead locks? So what! The car is alarmed and immobilised. If someone is going to break in...they will do it regardless. Just be sensible and don't leave your ipod on show. Safety is not an issue either. Four airbags, inpact bars etc..…
