  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

To me it says you stand out, don't follow what everyone else does and are a motoring enthusiast.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it. Got a lot of attention when I first bought it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes definitely. There are more powerful cars out there but to me the Metal is the last classic Ford hot (warm) hatch. No electronic torque vectoring active all the time, no sound symposer, just you, a revvy naturally aspirated engine and a light nimble chassis.

What are you likely to buy next?

If I can bare to part with this car, a Focus RS.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £14,000

When did you buy the car?

    September 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, the dealer was very good and came in with a very good offer.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

At the time this was the fastest and best looking Fiesta on sale. I originally intended upgrading to an ST when it was released but I like it too much to swap it!

    What was the dealer like?

They made special arrangements so I could pick up the car on the day I was free and the car was polished and presented very well.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

I think this car is outstanding. The engine sounds great and its pure engine sound, no fake sound symosers, thanks to an air box and exhaust unique to the Metal. The specially tuned 1.6 comes to life at 4000RPM and can cling on to the tail of a new ST if you play the gears right. The handling is excellent with incredible grip and great stability, making it safe and forgiving when driving with spirit. The steering has good weight but could do with more feedback. As you would expect, the chassis is bias towards under steer but this can be controlled very responsively with the throttle.

    What's it like to park?

Bit tricky at first as the Fiesta's tapering rear windows can be deceptive but once your used to it its pretty easy.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

No, its started first time every time and never had an issue.

What's most practical about your car?

The boot is a reasonable size for a B car, much larger than a Mini. I can fit my guitar and smallish amplifier in the boot without the seats down. Also averaging 46 MPG but that is eco driving to work. I have well into the 50's on a highway journey but it can dip into the 30's when pressing on.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Sony DAB with Bluetooth / USB The sound is not outstanding but it is more than good enough and will probably blow the windows out if you turned to full volume.
