• Summary

What does this car say about you?

Middle aged man in mid life crisis car (so my daughter tells me) but I hope not!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They can't believe it's made by Hyundai.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes - I bought a one owner one year old sports car with another 4 years warranty left remaining at a really good price.

What are you likely to buy next?

V6 Hyundai S111 Coupe or Nissan 350z if I had more money.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,600

When did you buy the car?

    July 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, I feel I did. The dealer had the car on his books for some weeks, and then reduced the price by £600 before I viewed the car and bought it. The later V6 model is expensive to tax (£300 PA) as it falls within the higher Co2 banding however, the book price is less than the 2.0 SE version, despite the V6 costing significantly more when new.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    I wanted a sporty coupe.

    What was the dealer like?

No pushy salesmanship and easy to deal with - independent dealer in Barnsley South Yorkshire, was even being prepared to deliver the car to my home in North Yorkshire 65 miles from his dealership for no charge.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great - the V6 model has so much torque and when you drive the car it appears to be more powerful than the book suggests. It pulls from 20 mph in 6th gear, even up moderate hills, and I'm glad I bought the V6 model. Even though it is a little thirsty compared to the 2 litre. It sounds great. The car corners well although I don;t drive it hard. One negative point the trip computer isn't well specced and does not give average mpg figures. I did measure the average fuel consumption over 500 miles of mixed driving and the V6 managed just over 28 mpg. The traction control is nice to have - but I'm not sure it has kicked in yet the way I drive.

    What's it like to park?

Not so easy - vision restricted as it is in all coupes and the steering lock is fairly poor.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

    No, not yet.

What's most practical about your car?

It isn't meant to be a practical car, but for a sporting coupe it does have a large boot.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I like the electric tilt and slide sunroof, traction control, leather interior, cruise control and the very positive close ratio six speed gearbox.
