Summary

5 out of 5

What does this car say about you?
Don't know and don't care. I suppose it says 'practical' but it does have some luxury features, and it is quite smart - like me!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone likes it _ I am surprised by the extent of positive comment.

Would you buy this car again and why?
Possibly - depends on my driving needs in a couple of years or so. My priority was to have a comfy motor with 4x4 capability to cope with the next 2/3 winters.

What are you likely to buy next?
Don't know - If I am still working in 3 years time I might consider the post 2008 model of the X-trail - if not I'll stay at home in the winter and drive a Merc 320 clK in the summer!

Existing car due for change and change of travel needs.

Have used the dealer before and have always had decent deals and good after-sales/service.

Driving it

4 out of 5

What's it like to drive?
Care needed when aiming for gaps in heavy/fast traffic - first gear is low and it does not take off from standstill like my previous car (Passat 130 TDi) when you want to snatch a gap in the traffic. On the move it is fine, lends itself to a fairly relaxed driving style. However at Motorway speeds it is hard to tell the difference between the Xtrail and my previous car, apart form a more commanding driving position. Its smooth and comfortable.

What's it like to park?
No problems - the parking sensors are so far a bit of a nuisance - never having had these before it's taking some time to get used to them. Manoevrable at low speed.

Living with it

5 out of 5

Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing so far - only had it a fortnight but it goes fine and I am confident in dealer service from past experience.

What's most practical about your car?
Comfy seats, driving position and loads of storage cubbyholes.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Electric folding Mirrors! _ OK I know it has Satnav, parking sensors, cruise control, aircon, electric adjustable/heated seats, leather, etc etc, but I am funny that way.
