• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Idiosyncratic, intriguing, love of design and style, slightly away from the mainstream of BMWs, Audis and Mercs.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Admiring glances, interest in the interior and exterior, love or hate the shape, refer back to older radical Citroens such as the original DS in nostalgic tones.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, if Citroen: (a) improve the suspension in the next update. (b) improve the smoothness of the EGS gear change.

What are you likely to buy next?

Citroen, Kia or Toyota are on my short list but deeply interested in moving back to a hybrid or all-electric if the time, technology and upfront cost are right.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £25,299

When did you buy the car?

    July 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

I got a good deal in terms of the attention to detail, the fact that the dealer listened to my needs and offered alternative suggestions. I never felt under any undue pressure to rush my decision and had the opportunity to try different cars and engines. That adds value!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Very impressed by two things: - engagement and customer care of dealer (Wilmoths Uckfield) - quality of interior and style of exterior.

    What was the dealer like?

Incredibly helpful. I had almost decided to stick with my existing brand, Toyota Prius, but the dealer treatment was the deciding factor.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Relaxing. Good visibility to front and sides. Steering feels direct and responsive. Easy to find a good driver seating position. Suspension is harsh for a car of this quality, especially rear suspension. People in the back seats have mentioned this a few times. I hear Citroen may change this in the future.

    What's it like to park?

Rear visibility is hampered by sloping roof and shape of car so rear parking sensors are essential. The rear parking camera is also very useful but doesn't work well in the dark compared to the Toyota version. It would also benefit from front sensors (optional) as judging the end of the sloping front isn't easy.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

The EGS gearbox takes a little getting used to. On two occasions it seemed to stick in 1st gear for longer than necessary but apart from that, nothing.

What's most practical about your car?

After a long drive I come out feeling refreshed and unstressed. The seats are comfortable and supportive. The leather seats look wonderful if you can afford the additional cost.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The central control for phone, sat nav, radio, iPod. One place to go for many functions.
