• Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I'm an individual. You don't see many YRV's on the road, especially the Turbo version.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Mixed opinion. Some say it's cheap. Others like it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes. But sadly Daihatsu appear not to make this model anymore and don't appear to be interested in making turbo/performance cars anymore. But as the car is part owned by Toyota, the reliablity has been outstanding up-to now.

What are you likely to buy next?

Another Japanese car, as I find these have been the most reliable to own from other marques I have owned and driven.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,995

When did you buy the car?

    October 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Not really. Cars w sort after dues to only being a limited number made by Daihatsu.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Low Insurance (Group 8), cheap to run. Had 5-doors. Automatic box for those start - stop situations in traffic jams.

    What was the dealer like?

    Fine.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Good when I bought it. But found the standard sports springs too bouncy. Also the car didn't feel safe on the 175 tyres and high up posture it had. Endde up modding the car with a lower spring kit and putting wider wheels an tyres on (195), now a completely nicer car to drive.

    What's it like to park?

Easy. It's an auto box, so just put it into Reverse and take your foot off the brake and it does the rest for you.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Water leak in the not so replaced front windscreen by previous owner.

What's most practical about your car?

Small, practical turbo charged car. With most mod cons.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Steershift function. Allows you to take control of the gearing but with the benefits of an automatic.
