    Value conscious ?

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    June 2004

Did you get a good deal and why?

Well looked after 75,000m with FSH. possibly because of a weird electrical problem - see below.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Versatility of a 5 seat,5 door hatchback - Cheap ford parts.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Smooth power delivery - docile , no peaky power band. On normal 185/60 tyres is a roundabout scratcher with a bouncy jarring ride. Ride quality was improved by higher aspect tyres at detriment of cornering.

    What's it like to park?

Wing mirrors don't give a very good view of curbs and difficult to judge where bonnet ends. Spoiler helps with rear view. With PAS can park in a gap about 3 feet smaller than i'd otherwise attempt in ANY car.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

From first drive, noticed interaction twixt rear screen heater, foglamps. Then rear wipe packed-up. Cured by oiling the rear hatch hinges ! Clutch slip which got worse over 8,000miles, £150 for new one - didn't bother.. Nursed it ! Engine temp gauge stopped working but system was in good condition and never used water - Turn heater on to check !

What's most practical about your car?

Handy enough around town , can lug big 36" TV's and their stands.. almost a wardrobe.. Motorway cruiser - good versatility.
