Other Ford Focus (2005 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Conservative and preferring luxury to sportiness.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They all love it. I'm relatively young for such a nice decent car, so everybody has nothing but good things to say about it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

    Yes, absolutely.

What are you likely to buy next?

I'd love to buy the new Focus mk3. Alas, this will be some way off.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £4,700

When did you buy the car?

    February 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

I got an alright deal. I got it for £4,700 after knocking the dealer down from £4,990, but I probably spent more than £290 getting it fixed in the first 2 months of owning it due to an improperly fitted power steering fluid pipe bursting, an aircon pipe bursting and replacing various small bits and bobs. The car was in decent condition - paint work had a few minor scratches and a few minor scratches on the trim in the inside, but the cloth inside was immaculate. Alloy wheels left a bit to be desired as they had suffered some water ingress.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Always loved the looks and styling of the Ford Focus, thought they were very comfortable on the inside and full of nice gadgets in the higher end trim levels.

    What was the dealer like?

Friendly, helpful and assuring, but seemingly a little deceitful about the condition of the car.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

An absolute joy to drive. I find it to be reltively quite on the road, very smooth with a comfortable ride. The steering is lovely and the car just goes where you want it to go. I have the 100ps 1.6L Petrol, which pulls and overtakes with ease, although it would be nice to have a few more horses.

    What's it like to park?

I haven't had any difficulty, although the cars rear end can be deceitful. I've fitted rear parking sensors after market to help with gauging the rear end distances, as it is quite a long car. With that fitted, it's a breeze.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

As I said before - power steering pipe burst, then an air con pipe burst, some water ingress in the alloy wheels. Additionally only half of the heated windscreen worked, but I managed to fix that with a bit of soldering.

What's most practical about your car?

The space. It's absolutely massive inside, especially when you fold the rear seats down. I've done a few flittings in the car and the amount of stuff you can get into it is unreal - very good for a hatchback.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

So many to choose from on the Ghia. I'm going to say Cruise Control, but I must acknowledge the autolights, auto wipers, and heated front windscreen (will be lovely in winter).
