Ford Mondeo Saloon 1993
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Since buying my Mondeo 5 years ago, I can hand on heart claim that I have had no major mechanical problems whatsoever.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Fuel consumption is above average for a car of its class, and replacement filters and other consumables are the lowest in the family car market.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Strikingly fun to drive and very responsive when pushed. Cornering can be a little scary at speed, but then again who wants to complete the Lombard RAC rally in a Mondeo?

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Respectable 0 – 60, although you can see the fuel gauge move as quickly as the rev counter when the peddle is to the metal.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Fantastic reliability, having passed the dreaded 100,000 mile market, it just keeps on going and is as refined a the day I drove it off the forecourt.

    Image

    2 out of 5 2.0

Dull dull dull dull are just a few words to describe is curvy appearance. Although, looking at cars of a similar age it’s a beauty. White is a nice colour and still looks fresh.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Having done 100,000 miles in my Mondeo, I have no complaints about comfort. In fact I would go as for as to call it an armchair on wheels. Once on a motorway, just sit back and relax in the quiet cabin.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

With deadlocks and an insurance approved alarm as standard you cannot go wrong.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Ford have never had a great track record, but I have no complaints.
