In their own words

I am puzzled as to why any one wants to own a prestige badged car because I have come to the conclusion that reliability should be as high on our list of priorities as anything else . My car cost £52,000 when new in 2008. I paid £13,000 for it in Feb 2013 which I thought was a good price, but since then I have spent thousands on repairs. I've had to replace things that I didn't have to replace on a similar aged Volvo that I had before, and these repairs have been expensive because a lot of the time, the parts had to be genuine Jaguar rather than aftermarket parts. I've been lucky that I found a small independent Jaguar specialist garage about five years ago that has been able to diagnose and fix any problems that I've had with the car at a fraction of the cost of a franchise dealers labour charges, £60/hr plus vat, rather than £120/hr plus vat, but I still feel that Prestige hasn't brought me any more reliability than a mainstream brand like Vauxhall , VW, Nissan, Ford, or Mazda. Maybe it's my own fault because I wanted the old mans car before I became an old man. Each time I spend a couple of hundred pounds on it, I think, " I'm not selling it now after spending that on it ". Maybe I'm expecting too much, and when I own a thirteen year old car, a certain amount has to be set aside each month to pay for the luxury of having such a big limo. I wonder , if I wanted " POSH " , why not have a top of the range model from any of the other brands mentioned.
