Other Kia Ceed (2012 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Probably that I'm getting on a bit! It's not an old persons car but I suppose, because it's designed so efficiently, because it's so safe and because it just sips the odd bit of fuel now and then it's a very sensible car. I must be sensible too then!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

The car is actually my wife's car and she loves it ~ she's very sensible! My sons refer to it as the 'hire car' although they're quick enough to borrow it if they've got some miles to cover. My very sensible next door neighbour's glances say, 'that's a better looking car than my Skoda'.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not ~ well, maybe. You know, I'm really not sure. The car is good, very good in fact, but if you enjoy driving and this is your only car, you might want to look at other options. A bit more power, a slightly tweaked chassis and huggier seats and then, yes, I would.

What are you likely to buy next?

Looking at the end of the year at a Mini Mk3 or possibly even a Toyota GT86.

    May 2013

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, and leasing deal meant that the car significantly undercut all other cars in the class.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

    Extremely efficient and likeable.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Well ~ she's a real looker but she's not fantastic in the handling department. Sure, the car is comfortable and rides smoothly enough but she's never going to excite the soul. Steering is OK, in sport mode, but any other type is a bit too light. You don't ever feel like zipping down your favourite B road because she's happier plodding the boring routes.

    What's it like to park?

With the rear facing camera it's a doddle to do it yourself but, if you have the nerve, it will even park itself.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. Kia engineering and design is now close to, if not on par with, german rivals. It does everything with an air of ease and efficiency.

What's most practical about your car?

It can park itself but I haven't had the guts to try out the system yet ~ the 17" alloys are just about the nicest I've had on any car ~ including a number of Porsches! It's economical and roomy and with exceptional visability. Xenons and adaptive lights are brilliant at night.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The Sat Nav is very user friendly and the bluetooth works exeptionally smoothly with the iphone 5. The panoramic sunroof and the leather upholstery are top notch. That, everything is standard on this car, makes it a serious bargain.
