In their own words

This car is comfortable to ride in and good driving position. Compared to a previous Discovery 1 that I owned the TD5 engine does not have so much low down grunt. This is particularly noticeable on long uphill climbs and when towing a 3.5 tonne trailer. Out on the open road it drives well especially if you keep up the revs and make good use of the gears. The gear box is reasonably slick for a 4x4 and the4 wheel drive system is far superior to what is fitted on my Isuzu pickup. What I particularly like is I can use low box without the tyres ‘winding up’. This is due to the excellent middle differential set up. Fuel consumption is average for this size of car and the steering is good, not too heavy and not too light. Rust is not such a problem as was on the Discovery 1. Engine always starts instantly. Problems encountered in my 9 years of ownership have been a warped exhaust manifold, renewed injector wiring harness due to oil contamination. This is a problem on the TD5 engine. Not a difficult job and not expensive. All round visibility is good and to sum up my overall impression of this car is I am very happy with it.
